Duchesne County Sheriff
About the Sheriff
Sheriff Boren was born and raised in Duchesne County where he always wanted to live and work. He graduated from Union High School where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Cheryl. Together, they raised two wonderful kids, and now are proud grandparents to three beautiful grandchildren.
He attended the Uintah Basin Applied Technology Center where he studied automotive mechanics and welding, but his real passion was to be in law enforcement. In 1993, he pursued that passion, entered, and graduated from the Utah Peace Officer Standards Training Academy, and returned to Duchesne County to begin his career. Now in his 22nd year of law enforcement with the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office, he still has that same passion and enthusiasm to continue to protect and serve the county which he continues to call home.
The Sheriff believes in and implements a “participatory management" philosophy in which his administration and staff are given a voice in the operation of the Sheriff's Office. Additionally, he supports continued modernization of all operations including adopting technology advances and acquiring new equipment to better serve the public.
Among his roles in the Office, from Patrol Corporal to Sheriff, he lends his experience and expertise in correctional facility management, field training, FBI law enforcement, advanced homicide investigation, and investigation and prosecution of child abuse/child sex abuse forensic interviewing and interrogation.
“If we forget about doing the right thing, the rest won’t matter. Because of this, the Sheriff’s Office works diligently to provide excellent law enforcement services to our diverse community. I am proud of the team I work with, and honored to wear the badge every day.” Sheriff David L. Boren
